Teaching (Spanish)

I’m Elena Carbonell, a Spanish teacher, performer, and published author with more than two decades of experience helping students connect with the Spanish language in a natural, creative, and confidence-building way.

I’ve taught Spanish at all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced speakers, in language institutes, private lessons, workshops, and cultural programs. Over the years, I’ve learned that students remember best when they experience the language — not just study it. That’s why my classes are dynamic, interactive, and rooted in real communication.

As the author of Primera Etapa and Segunda Etapa (published by Coutinho), and as editor and developer of other Spanish-learning materials, I know how to explain grammar and vocabulary clearly, simply, and in a way that truly sticks. My teaching blends solid structure with creativity, making Spanish accessible without losing its richness and playfulness.

My background as an improv teacher and performer adds another layer to my approach: spontaneity, confidence, and genuine expression. Improv encourages students to let go of fear, speak freely, and discover their unique voice in Spanish.

Whether you want strong foundations, more fluency, better writing, or a creative connection to the language, I offer lessons that are warm, personal, and full of energy.

Let’s make Spanish something you don’t just learn, but live.
